Sisters Dish

We’re Baaack!

Well, we made it through one of the most difficult holiday seasons in memory and cheered extra hard for the arrival of 2021, with hope in our hearts that better days are ahead. Rested and refreshed, the Sisterhood is ready once again to share our thoughts on all and sundry topics.

To Resolve Or Not To Resolve, That Is the Question

Overall, there seems to be a variety of opinions on the value of making New Year resolutions. We three sisters are of a mind that they are of limited usefulness and often end up making you feel worse than when you started. That said, with this year continuing to bring so many challenges, we felt it might be a good idea for the Sisterhood to have a project to focus on to keep us moving forward throughout 2021.

What’s In A Word

You may be familiar with the idea of choosing a word or a theme for the year instead of making resolutions. We decided to build on this idea and choose a word each month that we would keep foremost in our minds to inform our thoughts and actions throughout the month. And, being the creative types that we are, we decided to name our project “Word of the Month Challenge.”

Because we three sisters are very different personalities, we also decided that we are each free to do as we wish in interpreting and using the word each month. And of course we will keep you posted on our progress.

Let’s Get Physical

Wanting to be a well rounded Sisterhood, we felt it important not to forget about our physical well being. For those of you who follow our blog, you will recall that one of our goals is to walk a 5k race in each province and territory in Canada. With COVID continuing to put the kibosh on that idea, we decided to go virtual. We also decided to adopt the “go big or go home” philosophy, and so we are doing the Cabot Trail Virtual Challenge. This will allow us to cross Nova Scotia off our list of provinces in which to do a race and at 297 km will keep us very busy for the foreseeable future. And the medals are to die for!

Best race medal yet!

Once we convinced Big Sister that the world wouldn’t end if we jumped to a race in Nova Scotia instead of the orderly west to east progression that she seemed to feel was critical to our success, we were literally away to the races. By the time you read this post we will have started our trek and hope to be finished with medals in hand by the first part of June. As with our word challenge we will give you regular updates on our progress.

Onward and Upward

We officially have a year of blogging under our belt and to say it has been interesting is an understatement. The learning curve has been steep but we have also had lots of fun and have managed to keep the Sisterhood connected (virtually of course) despite COVID’s best efforts to keep us apart.

Aside from the two challenges we have taken on, for year two of the Sisterhood blog, you can expect to hear more about our lives, our thoughts on various and sundry topics, thoughts and memories about our family growing up and of course lots of reminiscing about our mom Betty, who is really the anchor for our blog. And in case you were wondering, Biscuit the wonder dog will also be making appearances throughout the year.

Cheers to Year Two of the Sisterhood of the Travelling Shoes!

Betty Would Love That!

We plan to publish a new post every Monday, so stay tuned for our next one entitled “What’s in a Name?”
