🎵All My Bags Are Packed, I’m Ready To Go🎵

Biscuit here. You may not know this about me, but I keep a very detailed daily diary. The other day I came across entries from my recent summer vacation, and I thought I would share them with you.

Dear Diary, Day 1

It’s finally arrived. It’s time to go on vacation, and I can’t wait! It’s been nearly three years since I got to jump in the car and go somewhere else other than the Vet or the store. I believe we’re going to Oregon, wherever that is. I am so excited! I can’t stand it.

The first order of business was to get my shots updated. Apparently, I can’t go anywhere unless I get them. I did not like this one bit, especially since I thought I was going to go on a nice walk. Somehow I ended up at the Vet. The only good thing about going to the Vet is the treat you get after your visit, other than that just stay away.

They weighed me before I got my shots, and it was nice to see that was I able to maintain my girlish figure since my last visit. Next, I had to have my shots. I didn’t like it, but I was very brave, even though I was shaking and crying the whole time. Like a true soldier I got through it and got my treat!

As usual after I got home, I followed my daily centering routine. I practiced my barking, hydrated, checked my emails, chased my tail, and concluded with my meditation. Fetch you later.

Dear Diary, Day 2

Today started off as per usual. My Humans were packing last night until 10:00 PM, and the plan was to leave by 7:00 AM this morning. Well that didn’t happen. Apparently there was still lots of running around and stuff to do.

My main concern was making sure all my things were packed. I carefully perused my comprehensive checklist to make sure my water bowl, food bowl and my ball were all packed. (My biggest worry was that my food was packed as I have a very sensitive tummy.) Then I just sat there patiently waiting for my Humans to get their act together.

We finally hit the road by 9:00 AM, but when we got to the Border we had to wait. While we were waiting in line, I started barking with a handsome terrier in the lane next to us. We both agreed that the Vet is not a fun place to go, and we compared future avoidance strategies. He had some really good ideas that I want to try the next time a “Vet visit” is on the agenda.

Once we got to the front of the line, I was sitting in the passenger seat, looking very cute I might add. The border guy started asking questions, all the while staring right at me. I tried to charm him with my big brown eyes but he just kept staring. It was definitely a staring standoff but he blinked first so I won. This validated my personal motto which is” just keep staring until they break.”

After he let us go, I was kind of upset. Yes, I won the staring contest but after all the pain and suffering I went through at the Vet, he didn’t even ask to see my papers. The mind boggles.

The waiting in line was so exhausting that we decided to just take it easy for the time being, find a nearby hotel and stay the night.

The day eventually came to a close with my usual centering routine. I practiced my barking, hydrated, checked my emails, chased my tail, and concluded with my meditation. Fetch you later.

Dear Diary, Day 3

This morning, we were up bright and early. The drive was nice. I was in the front seat, taking in all the sights and smells, when one smell hit me hard, and I realized it was the salt air. I knew then we were not far from our final destination. Suddenly the car came to a stop, and I was able to get out. I recognized where we were, and I was so happy I peed a little. Oops!

Before my human could stop me, I ran down to the beach and took in all the sights. I ran as fast and far as I could. I was in all my glory! I even found something good to roll in, and so I did. From that moment on my name was changed to Stinky the Dog. I didn’t care. I was on vacation at last!

But before getting a good night’s sleep, you guessed it. I finished my day off by practicing my barking, hydrating, checking my emails, chasing my tail, and concluded with my meditation. Fetch you later.

Dear Diary, Day 4

Today my Humans took me on an adventure to a shopping mall of some sort. I was not allowed to go into any of the stores, so I had to wait outside all by myself. That was okay because I got to make another new friend. I met a Dachshund who is a fellow Canadian from Winnipeg. We had a great conversation about hockey. He’s a big Jets fan and I of course follow the Canucks. We compared rosters and I definitely think the Canucks will be the stronger team. It was an excellent exchange of opinions and for a moment there, I felt I was channeling my friend Betty.

Did I forget to mention I had a little accident while we there? Nature called unexpectedly, and I just had to go, much to my Humans horror. The look on their face was of utter disbelief and let me tell you, if dogs could laugh, I would have. Humans are so funny. I mean it’s only dog nature. When you have to go, you have to go, right? Fortunately, their look of horror turned to relief when a nice lady handed them a bag, and said, “don’t worry, I got you.” Problem solved.😉

After lots and lots of shopping we finally ended up back at our hotel to get good night’s rest. Not much else to tell. Practiced my barking, hydrated, checked my emails, chased my tail, and concluded with my meditation. Fetch you later.

So Much More to Tell….

Days 5 through 7 were pretty much more of the same so I won’t bore you with the details, but please stay tuned. There will be more exciting excerpts from Biscuits Daily Diary in the future. I have lots more fascinating stories to tell.

For now, be reassured that I thoroughly enjoyed my Oregon vacation and my humans and I arrived home safely. I’m relaxed and refreshed, and ready to get back into my centering routine of practicing barking, hydrating, checking emails, chasing my tail, and meditating. Fetch you later!
