Biscuit Barks

Biscuit the Influencer

Biscuit here. Becoming a member of the Sisterhood of The Travelling Shoes has changed my life. Never in my wildest puppy dreams did I think I would ever become a “thing.” At best I thought I would be just a happy dog living out my days laying in the sunshine, chasing my tail, and getting treats for being a good girl! But boy was I wrong – it has turned out to be quite a ride! So, I’d like to give you a glimpse into my journey in becoming a social media influencer.

Members Only

Do I really want to join this group?

I was honored when I was asked to join the Sisterhood, but quite frankly I was wondering what took them so long. I was surprised at how exhaustive the membership vetting process was. Do they really need to know how many times a day I go for walks or what brand of dog food is my favourite? A bit intrusive if you ask me. Nevertheless, I answered all their questions and waited…

After many sleepless nights wondering if I would make the cut, I finally heard that I was accepted as an honorary canine member of the Sisterhood.

At my official swearing in ceremony there was so much pageantry, and celebration it was beyond belief! There was cake in the shape of a bone, fruit punch, and treats. All my celebrity friends showed up. Lassie, Hobo, and Snoopy to name just a few. The Pawparazzi was there as well. There were so many flashes from the cameras that I was having a hard time seeing, but it was worth it.

Poser

Prepping for my photo shoot

Fast forward to my first photo shoot for my first post. It was awesome. I was at the beauty salon the night before, getting my coat brushed out and of course a pawdicure for all four paws (which the Sisterhood paid for thankfully, because I don’t have a bank account). After I got home from the salon I spent several hours in front of the mirror practicing my smiling, and posing. I feel like I perfected that looking back over the shoulder pose that all the celebs do on the red carpet when they are posing for pictures.

The next day was hectic, and I now have a greater appreciation for what Cindy Crawford went through in her modeling days. I slept really, really well that night, as I was so exhausted and I dreamed that I was in a photo shoot with supermodel Giselle Bundchen.

Almost Famous

The following week my first blog and Instagram posts went up. I was shocked at how much interest they got – hundreds of likes and just as many followers who now follow my every move and are constantly asking me for more pictures. I will admit I am a little worried that the Sisterhood might decide to rescind my membership given that I am clearly the most popular member.

Free stuff!!

Since this crazy ride began, I’ve had free products sent to me, three modeling offers, and several requests to appear on talk shows like “Bark if You Are Beautiful”, and my personal favorite “Good Morning Doggie America.”

However, after some self reflection and tail chasing I turned them all down, as I realized that I had a bigger calling – starting an advice column to help my friends navigate their way through their often turbulent lives. My friends always told me that I was good at giving advice, perhaps just a little too much advice. I took that as a compliment and so here we are.

Now that the dust has settled, and I have found my true calling, you can feel free to reach out to me any time if you need some advice. There is no topic too big or too small, just please not again about the crap dog food that your human feeds you.

We plan to do a new post every Monday, so stay tuned for our next one entitled “As The World Spins.”

Biscuit has quite a vocabulary – what doggie institution was she educated at and more importantly what degree did she earn. Did anyone attend her graduation? Well, I must say these journeys are becoming more interesting as the time goes on. Looking forward. to next weeks
