The Sisterhood Leaps Into 2024
As we settle into 2024, the Sisterhood thought now might be a good time to answer the famous question posed by hockey icon Wayne Gretzky, “you want a challenge don’t you?” So after much soul searching and deciding, as good Canadian hockey fans, they could not say no to Wayne Gretzky, the Sisterhood decided to embark on a 30 day challenge. Well, it’s actually a 29 day challenge as we chose February of a leap year to do it, but I don’t think Wayne will mind.😂
Because the Sisterhood prides itself in fostering the individuality of each sister, Big, Middle and Little Sis have each chosen a different challenge for the month. And in case you’re wondering, honorary canine Sisterhood member Biscuit was invited to participate but she said she was too busy focusing on her influencer career to find the time.
And so, without further adieu, read on to see what each sister has chosen for their February 29 day challenge.
Put that Phone Down!
You knew one of us was going to do it and turns out it is me, Middle Sis. My challenge will be to reduce my screen time. By today’s standards I don’t think my usage is over the top, but I have noticed recently that I have fallen into social media scrolling to the point where that little voice in my head is saying you should stop now and I still keep scrolling only to find that half an hour has passed without my even realizing it. And don’t even ask me about my Netflix viewing….
So I think it is a good time “nip it in the bud” as my dad would say and find strategies to get control of this before it becomes a bigger issue. Fortunately there is a plethora of information about how to reduce screen time (most of it online ironically😂) so I don’t think I should have any problem finding ways to do this. I just have to make like Nike and Just Do It. Wish me luck!
Like a Bridge Over Troubled Water
Big Sis here. On January 1, I blithely and naively decided that I would take 2024 by storm. Then I realized that there was too much “storm” for me to reasonably handle. Hence when the Sisterhood decided to each take on a personal challenge for the month of February, I had a myriad of possibilities, so much so that I was literally unable to make a decision.
I asked myself if I should try a workout challenge, or how about a dietary challenge? For all of two seconds I considered counting my daily caloric intake. Getting back to reading a book daily, briefly sounded like a good idea, as did reducing or entirely eliminating my screen time in conjunction with daily reading. In the end I decided to leave those fun challenges to Middle and Little and chose instead to climb a mountain. (Just to be clear, I mean that figuratively, not literally😉)
No, my mountain is going to be learning to play the game of Bridge. I am not even going to pretend that it is something I have always wanted to do, because it isn’t. I am fully aware that this is not something that will come easily to me. I am a “words” person, not a card counter. Yes, there will likely be troubled waters ahead and some anxiety. I remain steadfast and committed…..pray for me People.
Enough! Time to Get Off Your Duff!
Little Sis here. Every year I say to myself I need to get into shape, along with about a million other people, and then promptly sit back down on the couch and eat an entire bowl of popcorn. The thought of even going to the gym is exhausting. Right now I feel like I am channeling my inner Peg Bundy, and at this moment I can’t think of anyone better to channel, after all we both have red hair. The only difference being she likes her bonbons, and l like my popcorn, White Cheddar to be exact.
What made me come to the realization that I need to get in shape you might ask? Well, its quite simple since I have started to work from home, I have been extremely lazy. I seem to spend more time sitting and not getting up enough, and you have access to lots of very tempting snacks. So getting up and getting snacks is really the only exercise I get. When I do get up from my desk, I feel like I am about a 100 years old.
So, no time like the present to get off my duff, get the heart pumping, and the blood circulating. My goal is a 1/2 hour walk everyday, and to get back to the gym. Like the saying goes ” What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Here we go..
And the Winner Is….
And so it begins. Who knows what lies ahead for this talented trio? Have they set the bar too high? Will they persist in the face of adversity? The suspense is overwhelming and waiting for a progress update leaves us paralyzed with fear.😧 Fingers crossed that they will overcome their demons and succeed in their quest. Stay tuned.
We will be doing a new post every Monday, so you can look forward to our next one entitled “It’s a Long Way to Antigonish.”
