And The Winner Is…
With February over and done, we thought you might be wondering how successful each of the Sisters were in completing their individual challenges. While the Sisterhood is all about female empowerment, Big, Middle and Little Sis also believe that a little bit of healthy competition among sisters is not a bad thing and decided to declare a challenge winner. Unfortunately, Wayne Gretzky was unavailable for comment so the Sisterhood was forced to dig deep and solve the dilemma on their own. Read on to see how this “terrific trio” managed to resolve their quandary in a fair and reasonable manner, and who was ultimately declared the obvious winner.
Step by Step, Sort Of…
I finally did it. I got off my duff, and was starting to getting in shape. I was doing well. I was going back to the Gym, and Biscuit and I were getting out on a fairly regular schedule for walk. I started right out of the gate like gangbusters. I was counting my steps until my Fitbit gave up the ghost, and then I couldn’t track my progress any more. The weather started to get cold and rainy. Biscuit and I were much more content to stay inside and stay warm, so that’s what we did.
We grabbed a blanket and some snacks, and we have been snuggled up for the past few weeks on the couch. It’s been fun, but we are thinking it’s time to start again. The weather has been getting better. The sun is shining, and it’s getting warmer. We’re getting a little restless just sitting on the couch, and we have seen just about everything there is to see on Netflix. I guess I can start going back to the Gym as long as I don’t lose my patience with people. I did not win this challenge this time. I am willing to start over, and as I have Biscuit by my side I believe we are going to be unstoppable for Round 2.
Down and Out
The intermittent fasting strategy I used for reducing my screen time, I’m happy to report was successful over the month, with my screen time reduced from an average of 2 hours 20 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes per day. Over the month I limited the time frame that I used my phone each day, trying to stay within the hours of 9 am to 5 pm. As the month went on I felt less and less “pull” to pick up my phone which allowed me to keep my screen time reduced and spend more time hanging out at the library finding good books to read. Yay me!!! However, unwittingly, I seem to have replaced some screen time with sweet treats and so, ironically, I will need to increase my screen time so that I can find some new strategies for weight loss…
The Bridge Has Collapsed
I will state right off the top, that my quest to learn to play bridge has had limited success. I have put a temporary hold on my efforts, due to the lure of other adventures. I have only so much time to devote to the myriad of ideas that keep presenting themselves, and bridge has unfortunately taken a back seat.
Don’t get me wrong. Bridge is a really interesting game. Because you are playing with a partner, the core principle is communication, and bidding is the instrument. It is also annoyingly difficult. So much so that I found I preferred actually playing (accumulating tricks) as opposed to bidding, and that was my downfall. Playing online Bridge against bots meant I didn’t have to bid and I wasted precious time trying to beat those same bots. As you can imagine, to no avail.
So, to summarize, I have not completely abandoned my Bridge experiment. Rather, I have temporarily assigned it to a back burner, where it can simmer until I am ready to once again attempt to overcome my aversion to bidding and my obsession for beating those bots. 😉
Now What Do We Do?
If effort was the main criterion for determining a winner, there was no doubt we would each get an “A”. We were focused, determined and single minded in our pursuit of excellence. Unfortunately, Big and Little fell short of their goal. Middle Sis is the clear winner, as to this day she continues to maintain a healthy relationship with screens. Well done Middle Sis!
However, there is a caveat. Not wanting to hurt Big and Little’s feelings, and out of concern that they might fall into a devastating depression, Middle suggested that they each receive recognition as a participant. Thus a potential disaster was averted, with a happy ending for all concerned.

Well you encourage me to think about another goal or a new goal, or a maybe goal. Oh well, you have declared a winner but you have all at least attempted – hmm, I better get started.
