🎵Summertime and the Livin’ is Busy!🎵
The Sisterhood is back and ready to rock! We’ve got so many stories to tell that it’s hard to know where to start. So, let’s make our way back to this past summer, July to be exact. We arranged a trip to Halifax with our final destination being Antigonish where we would walk our planned 5K, enjoy some Highland dancing and experience the famous Nova Scotia hospitality. As usual, there was drama, there was sightseeing and there was laughter and fun.
The Drama
The day before we were set to leave, Big Sis had an accident of the oops! variety. She was working out and unbeknownst to her at the time, she fractured her foot. All she knew was that it hurt and she was limping everywhere we went. This presented an enormous obstacle to our planned 5K walk. Could she do it? Could she walk a full 5K in her precarious condition? Or would she simply buckle and cheer as Middle and Little completed the circuit? It was a true conundrum, and at some point over the following blog posts, all will be revealed.
The Sightseeing
Halifax is a beautiful city with lots of fascinating history, and Pier 21 was a unanimous choice for beginning our sightseeing expeditions. We were able to access some incredible information about our Grandmother’s entry into Canada. There is also a museum illustrating the hardships and realities of leaving your country and coming to Canada.
The Alexander Keith Brewery was a must. Middle Sis bought a shirt for hubby but that was it for purchases. We chose instead to pose for pictures with Mr. Keith himself.
And of course what would a visit be without spending time at the Citadel atop a hill overlooking the City. It brought back wonderful memories of our visit with Mom a few years back.
The Laughter and Fun
Where to begin? Well, when the Sisters are together there is always laughter and fun, usually enhanced by the consumption of adult beverages, so let’s start there. And as is often the case, pictures speak louder than words. So, in no particular order I offer a variety of pictures illustrating laughter and fun.
Then, having spent time in a few lounge settings, The Sisterhood decided to take advantage of the rooftop terrace in our hotel. Little Sis was confident that she could open our accompanying bottle of wine and the following video illustrates the futility and frustration that ensued.
Antigonish Here We Come!
And now we were off to Antigonish, having located our rental car, and delegated our driver (Little Sis as usual). Excitement and anticipation were in the air, as Little Sis calmly took the wheel.
But who could have possibly predicted our upcoming adventures: the sweltering heat that threatened to overcome us, the agonizing pain Big Sis would endure, the disdain that would greet Middle Sis’ attire in our motel breakfast room, the glory of Highland dancing and the musical beauty of the Bagpipes. But most of all, the incredible hospitality and guidance offered by our hosts. There is so much more to tell!
