Travelling with “the Seniors”
The Sisterhood, as you all know, loves to travel. Sometimes though it can be difficult to travel with a group of people. They don’t always agree on where to go, and what to do. I feel very lucky in that respect as Big and Middle Sis are very agreeable, and we always have an excellent time. My challenge comes with travelling with not one but two seniors. Let me spill the tea. Panic in the Cab After a very long flight we finally arrived at the Halifax airport, at 11:00PM. We collected our bags, got a cab, and were on our way to the hotel. Middle Sis, and myself were…

Maritime Magic
So, just to refresh, the Sisterhood has a goal of walking 5k in every province. So far Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan and Quebec have been crossed off our list, and just when we were deciding which province would be next, Don, a friend of Big Sis, suggested Antigonish as our Nova Scotia stop. Being from there, he painted a vivid picture of the town, and when Middle Sis heard that there would be Highland Games along with a walk that the Sisterhood could do, well she was not to be denied and so…Antigonish it was. Little did we know what a remarkable experience it would prove to be. We’re In Celtic…

🎵Summertime and the Livin’ is Busy!🎵
The Sisterhood is back and ready to rock! We’ve got so many stories to tell that it’s hard to know where to start. So, let’s make our way back to this past summer, July to be exact. We arranged a trip to Halifax with our final destination being Antigonish where we would walk our planned 5K, enjoy some Highland dancing and experience the famous Nova Scotia hospitality. As usual, there was drama, there was sightseeing and there was laughter and fun. The Drama The day before we were set to leave, Big Sis had an accident of the oops! variety. She was working out and unbeknownst to her at the…

In Search Of….
What do Leonard Nimoy (Mr Spock) and Little Sis have in common? Well here we go. Do you remember the TV show from the late 70's or 80's called In Search Of...? In case you don't, it was a TV show narrated by non other, Leonard Nimoy, and each week he would do a show about some of life's great mysteries and the search for answers. He would do episodes on things like Big Foot, the Loch Ness monster and the disappearance of people like DB Cooper or Jimmy Hoffa. Little did I know that, after deciding to take my sisters advice and find a personal trainer, it would turn…

The Latest Fitness Trend Is?
After searching high and low and everywhere in between, I have finally found the exercise program that is going to give me the Summer Bod I have always dreamed of. I am so excited because I figure if I start this program right now, I will have my Summer Bod by, well, Summer, or if I work extra hard in just a few short weeks. So, please read on. I know that everyone over 50 has heard of Prancercise as the number one way to get in shape. If you haven’t, you might want to check it out on Youtube. But being the creative sort that I am, I have…

Channeling My Inner Athlete
As I remember, it was a warm, sunny day in 1960, and I was missing school because I was supposedly sick. I say supposedly because my only truly vivid memory of the day was that my fifth grade teacher was speaking to my mom on the phone. I was naturally concerned that I had done something wrong and was about to be punished. Far from it. The annual athletic day was tomorrow and my team needed me. Apparently, I was the fastest runner in Grade Five and the relay team would go down to defeat without me. At the tender age of 10, I was regarded as pivotal to their…

It’s A Long Way To Antigonish
If you are a reader of our blog, you’ll know that we have a goal to do a 5k race in every province in Canada. This year we are checking Nova Scotia off our list by visiting Antigonish and yes, it is a long way to go – 6225 km to be exact. And while I am excited about accomplishing this part of our goal, what is most exciting for me is a chance to attend the Antigonish Highland Games while we are there and take a trip down memory lane. You see, highland dancing and I go way back, and despite the fact that my knees hurt just watching…

All’s Well that Ends Well
After our post race recovery regimen of a shower and big lunch, complete with celebratory libations, it was time for the other important part of our trip. And that was spending time with our brother Randy, who we had not seen for a few years. He graciously came and picked us up and drove us to his farm, about two hours outside Montreal. Once we got over the surprise of how much he now looks like Colonel Sanders (albeit a more svelte version), we were off to the farm. Little Sis got the front seat on the drive and she had a great time enjoying our brother's somewhat offbeat sense…

One Foot In Front Of The Other
After settling in at our hotel and a fun evening at the rooftop lounge, it was now time to get serious and focus on the event that brought us to Montreal - a Sisterhood 5k walk. The tiaras are unpacked, we found a good restaurant for carbo loading before the walk and spent some time brushing up on our high school French. All we need now is for race day to arrive. But first....

Up, Up And Away
Well its official. We are finally on our way to Montreal for our first 5K walk in three years, and a visit with our brother on the side. The Sisterhood had been training for this, and we could not wait to get our kicks on and start the walk, but we had to get there first which was an adventure in itself. We travelled over four provinces, two time zones, and a language barrier. Let's go girls!
