Time To Move On
For those of you anxiously waiting to hear about progress on our virtual walk to Montreal, we finally have an update and it may not be at all what you expected...

What is an Ironman Competition?
Well, until a few years ago, I had no idea. Then I gained an athletic son in law and I was enlightened. It is a three phase competition , which involves a swim of 2.4 miles, a bike ride of 112 miles (usually with lots of steep hills and valleys) and a full marathon, which is 26.2 miles ( with more steep hills and valleys). And to top it off, there is a time limit, albeit a relatively generous one, but it serves as an additional challenge. Just stop for a minute and contemplate the above. Yes, you read it right. Can you even imagine?

And the Fun Just Never Stops…
There is no disputing that our tiaras and the ensuing hilarity were a highlight of our vacation, but there is so much more to tell. In fact, it’s remarkable that we managed to pack so much excitement and laughter into four short days, so allow me to elaborate on some of our more meaningful experiences. Please be assured that no animals were harmed during the following adventures and the safety of others was paramount. All participants shall remain anonymous to protect their identity (we didn’t know their names anyway) Walk Don’t Run Because one of our foundational principles is to promote physical fitness, it was of the utmost importance that…

Only 3,476.83 Kilometres to Go
The Sisterhood is on the move. In fact, we're on fire! Our virtual walk to Montreal to see our brother Randy is underway and our progress is nothing short of remarkable....sort of.

Off To Randy’s House We Go…Maybe?
The above picture is of our brother Randy. Despite an uncanny resemblance to Howdy Doody, we think he is just adorable. Have you ever heard of the saying from the 70's, " Keep on Trucking?" Well this is exactly what the Sisterhood of the Travelling Shoes is going to do. Since we have completed two virtual walks, one along the Cabot Trail and one around the Ring of Kerry, we decided to do one of entirely our own design. Read on faithful follower and see the exciting adventure that we have in store for our next virtual walk.

Oh the Things We Learned in Saskatoon….
We looked upon our Saskatoon experience as a learning opportunity, so we conducted an extensive review and analysis of events and rated and categorized each significant factor. After thoughtful discussion, we were able to conclude that in the future we should do the following:

We Did It!
As serious 5K walkers, we knew we had to have a strategy and ours was quite simple....DON'T FINISH LAST! We set a blazing pace out of the starting gate and are happy to note that in fact we are not last!! So far so good! At about the halfway point we notice Mag is lagging behind and the people behind us are closing in. After Mag admits that when we thought she was at the gym training, she was actually on the couch watching reruns of Pittsburgh Steelers games, we adjust our pace and decide we have to take some desperate measures...

Running Back to Saskatoon
Picture this: its May 26,2019, its 2 degrees C and here we are jumping around trying to keep warm at the start line for our first official Sisterhood of the Travelling Shoes 5K. Yes, we are in beautiful downtown Saskatoon and you may be wondering why Saskatoon? Well, I'd like to say it was after careful analysis of the race course, amenities, and if they gave out medals (they did) but really, it fit Mag's work schedule (she being the only sister who is still gainfully employed) and so Saskatoon it was. Little did we know the adventures that would await...

“We’ll Never See These People Again….”
Senior Athletic Adventure Canada was a brilliant idea. There was, however, a minor glitch.....Kerri just couldn't remember the name. (If you are a member of a group, it's important to know the name of said group). We tried using just the initials SAAC and even "S double A C", to no avail. It became painfully obvious that a name change was in order.....hence, The Sisterhood of the Travelling Shoes was born.

In the Beginning We Created a Memorial…
It seems a bit odd and out of sync to be talking about an event that took place before the arrival of Covid 19 and social distancing. Today's post relives the lovely memory of a 5K walk on a beautiful sunny day when we mingled freely without concern for our health, or our distance from those walking with us. Our story begins in August of 2018 when we found ourselves in Edmonton for a 5K Memorial Walk/Family Reunion.
