What a Difference a Year Makes?
On this Canadian Thanksgiving day, we once again gather to celebrate and of course give thanks. As always it’s a happy occasion with lots of conversation, laughter and delicious food. As a family, we are blessed. We Won’t Back Down One year ago, our Thanksgiving in the midst of Covid was an interesting ?? affair. Out of an abundance of caution, and because a vaccine was not yet available, we ate outside, sheltered from the pouring rain and huddled in the bone chilling cold. To put things in context, I refer you to our Thanksgiving post last year, titled “Thanksgiving in the Breezeway.” You have to read it to believe…

Where is Clark Griswold When You Need Him?
The movie Christmas Vacation is a holiday favorite in our house. The adventures of Clark Griswold and his family never seem to get old. With COVID making family Christmas gatherings impossible this year, I have been thinking a lot about Christmas in our house growing up and realized that we had more than a few things in common with the Griswold family.

Sing, Sing A Song
Based on the title and picture above, you could be forgiven if you thought that this post was about the Von Trapp family and the Sound of Music movie. This post does involve a family with a lot of kids (ours) and singing, but not the big screen production musical sort. Perhaps it had something to do with our Irish heritage and certainly the times were very different. This was back when the internet and smartphones were the stuff of sci-fi, and TV consisted of three channels and watching it was pretty much confined to the Wide World of Sports on Saturday and the Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday.…

Thanksgiving in the Breezeway
When my oven gave up the ghost exactly three weeks before Thanksgiving, I didn't panic. I was calm and if I do say so myself, I handled it brilliantly. I was relaxed and confident that this was only a minor blip that would be rectified in very short order. So, I waited a few days before I began my quest to repair it. I ask myself now, what dreamworld/parallel universe was I living in?

That Cute Little Couple
Thanksgiving gives us pause and the opportunity to reflect on our good fortune and appreciation for the people who enrich our lives. It always falls very close to both Mom and Dad's birthdays, so in keeping with tradition, the Sisterhood organized a "Memorial Walk" to remember our parents, known to many as "That Cute Little Couple." Of course the walk was virtual and entirely voluntary.

For the Love of the Game
I am sitting in a bar (as usual) in Cave Creek, Arizona. With me is my husband, Big Sis, and my brother in law. Unfortunately, Middle Sis could not make the trip. She is however with us in a likeness on a cardboard stick...the best we could do on short notice. :-) I think she is really enjoying herself.

In the Beginning We Created a Memorial…
It seems a bit odd and out of sync to be talking about an event that took place before the arrival of Covid 19 and social distancing. Today's post relives the lovely memory of a 5K walk on a beautiful sunny day when we mingled freely without concern for our health, or our distance from those walking with us. Our story begins in August of 2018 when we found ourselves in Edmonton for a 5K Memorial Walk/Family Reunion.

Won’t You Let Me Take You on a Sea Cruise….
After Dad passed away and his estate was settled, we decided that Mom needed a holiday, and a cruise fit the bill. Mag had to work so Kerri and Shauna took Betty on a trip along the East Coast, starting in New York and ending in Montreal. Hopefully our timing would coincide with the brilliant fall foliage, some nice weather, and an opportunity to celebrate Mom's birthday in mid October...
