Travels with My Sisters

Maritime Magic
So, just to refresh, the Sisterhood has a goal of walking 5k in every province. So far Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan and Quebec have been crossed off our list, and just when we were deciding which province would be next, Don, a friend of Big Sis, suggested Antigonish as our Nova Scotia stop. Being from there, he painted a vivid picture of the town, and when Middle Sis heard that there would be Highland Games along with a walk that the Sisterhood could do, well she was not to be denied and so…Antigonish it was. Little did we know what a remarkable experience it would prove to be. We’re In Celtic…

🎵Summertime and the Livin’ is Busy!🎵
The Sisterhood is back and ready to rock! We’ve got so many stories to tell that it’s hard to know where to start. So, let’s make our way back to this past summer, July to be exact. We arranged a trip to Halifax with our final destination being Antigonish where we would walk our planned 5K, enjoy some Highland dancing and experience the famous Nova Scotia hospitality. As usual, there was drama, there was sightseeing and there was laughter and fun. The Drama The day before we were set to leave, Big Sis had an accident of the oops! variety. She was working out and unbeknownst to her at the…

All’s Well that Ends Well
After our post race recovery regimen of a shower and big lunch, complete with celebratory libations, it was time for the other important part of our trip. And that was spending time with our brother Randy, who we had not seen for a few years. He graciously came and picked us up and drove us to his farm, about two hours outside Montreal. Once we got over the surprise of how much he now looks like Colonel Sanders (albeit a more svelte version), we were off to the farm. Little Sis got the front seat on the drive and she had a great time enjoying our brother's somewhat offbeat sense…

One Foot In Front Of The Other
After settling in at our hotel and a fun evening at the rooftop lounge, it was now time to get serious and focus on the event that brought us to Montreal - a Sisterhood 5k walk. The tiaras are unpacked, we found a good restaurant for carbo loading before the walk and spent some time brushing up on our high school French. All we need now is for race day to arrive. But first....

Up, Up And Away
Well its official. We are finally on our way to Montreal for our first 5K walk in three years, and a visit with our brother on the side. The Sisterhood had been training for this, and we could not wait to get our kicks on and start the walk, but we had to get there first which was an adventure in itself. We travelled over four provinces, two time zones, and a language barrier. Let's go girls!

Bonjour Montreal, Here We Come!
Finally….. the long wait is over and the Sisterhood is breaking out of the COVID imposed travel embargo to once again work towards their goal of participating in a 5k walk in every province in Canada. So far we have checked BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan off the list and next week we will be able to check off Quebec after we participate in the Run For Women in Montreal. Even though we are feeling a bit rusty since our last walk, which was in Saskatoon in 2019, we are happy to once again be back out on the “trail” with the added bonus of getting to spend time with our…

And the Fun Just Never Stops…
There is no disputing that our tiaras and the ensuing hilarity were a highlight of our vacation, but there is so much more to tell. In fact, it’s remarkable that we managed to pack so much excitement and laughter into four short days, so allow me to elaborate on some of our more meaningful experiences. Please be assured that no animals were harmed during the following adventures and the safety of others was paramount. All participants shall remain anonymous to protect their identity (we didn’t know their names anyway) Walk Don’t Run Because one of our foundational principles is to promote physical fitness, it was of the utmost importance that…

The Tiara Trio
Recently, the Sisterhood decided to take a short vacation just to “clear the cobwebs,” relax and above all, maximize the fun factor. We had originally planned a visit to Montreal but instead ended up on Vancouver Island in beautiful British Columbia, Canada….its a long story. Of course we are first and foremost planners. Each sister was charged with bringing an activity so at various points we found ourselves playing Big Sis’ favorite card game called “Sticks”, a version of charades called “Heads Up” favored by Middle Sis and working on our hand eye coordination with Little Sis’ ball contraption. (Big Sis really wanted Middle Sis to plan a “Kerri-Oke” activity,…

And the Saga Continues…
A Quick Recap… The Sisterhood is on an athletic adventure, and an inspirational mission. Yes, we are still walking to Montreal to see our brother Randy. When last we spoke, we were enjoying the lovely town of Princeton, B.C. Canada. Since then, we have braved torrential rain, physical pain (we’re approaching the mountains now) and overwhelming depression….. just kidding about the depression! In case you are wondering though, Big Sis is still complaining of foot pain, Middle Sis is still ridiculously upbeat and Little is preoccupied with Biscuit’s well being and comfort. But I digress. We are now just outside of Enderby,B.C., where we are going to rest for a…
