There it is… that beautiful “Betty Smile.”

Mom was always smiling, especially at strangers. It seemed as if she was trying to make a connection and she was often successful. Going for a walk with her was a marathon of smiles and friendly greetings for any one we passed.

The Sisterhood was recently reminded of this and decided to emulate Mom’s friendly nature by declaring a personal Smile at a Stranger Day.

It was a normal Friday in July of this year. When I say “normal” I mean that I had just finished my normal workout and as usual I was a bit tired, a bit pumped and quite a bit “sweaty.” But as I made my way back to the car, I experienced a sudden, sharp pain in my left foot. This was not normal.

The Sisterhood’s trip to Antigonish Nova Scotia covered a lot of ground, both literally, when they did a 5k walk towards their goal of doing a 5k in every province, and figuratively, when they took in the Highland Games and and other community events, topped off with a kitchen party that the Sisterhood is still talking about.

Farewell to Nova Scotia Part Three!

The Sisterhood views vacation time as an opportunity for fun and frivolity. We have often found the bar/lounge atmosphere to be of particular assistance in that regard and our Nova Scotia trip proved no exception.
.
On a whim, we decided to forgo our usual Pinot Grigio (Big Sis), Prosecco (Middle Sis), and Beer (Little Sis) in favor of a pitcher (or two) of Sangria.
.
For some reason, Big Sis kept referring to it as “Sangarita.” This was an unfortunate misstep because Middle and Little immediately jumped on it. The implication of course being that Big Sis had over indulged. Nothing could be further from the truth!
It was merely a”creative slip of the tongue.”
.
It is highly likely that this will continue to haunt Big Sis in the long term. She is, however, determined to rise above it all and take the high road. As traumatic as this experience has been, she will survive😊.
.
Nova Scotia was both exciting and exhausting, and we are in need of a period of recuperation, so we are taking a short summer break. See you again in mid September. Cheers.
