Have You Met Your Match?
There are many things in this life that come in pairs: socks, shoes, and gloves just to mention a few, and of course twins. There are even different kinds of twins. We have maternal, fraternal, and identical. There is however one group of twins that is often overlooked, and that is the Doppelganger. Read on..

Edison, Eat Your Heart Out.
As we all know Thomas invented the light bulb, and various other items that we still use today. In our previous post, When Your Focus is Out of Focus, I shared my tendency to zone out and lose myself in distracting thoughts. Well, I'm pleased to inform you that when my mind starts to wander, I often channel Thomas Edison, so I have a few inventions of my own that I would like to share with you. I just hope they don't go the way of things like the remote control headband, the butter stick, (this is like chap stick but it is butter instead), and the phone fingers. These…

When Your Focus Is Out of Focus
Big, Middle and Little Sis all wear glasses and so regularly have their visual focus checked and corrected as need be. But that is not what we had in mind to talk about when we chose “focus” as our word of the month for October. Rather we were thinking about where we choose to spend our time and attention day to day and how to make sure we’re clearly focused on the right things. Would You Repeat That Please? By Little Sis I love to sleep, and you would think that after a long at day work, sleeping would be a welcome relief. I don’t consider myself an insomniac, but…

Well That Was Fun!
Everyday life offers a myriad of potential challenges. It also offers a myriad of opportunities for humor and laughter. The Sisterhood can speak to both with a measure of authority. We have after all, a combined 195 years of experience on this earth. Collectively, we prefer to dwell on the funny side of life (hence the above picture of Little Sis laughing as she wrote her contribution to this post.) I mean really, if you can’t laugh at yourself, life must be very dull indeed. So it is with great humility and perhaps a splash of laughter, we offer our thoughts on what we refer to as “Our Most Embarrassing…

Happy Birthday Mom
Yesterday would have been Mom’s 94th birthday. We miss her and cherish all the memories we have of the kind, caring, fun loving person that she was. Especially in Mom’s later years, birthdays were important milestones and meant a lot to her. So today it seemed like a good time to look back at birthdays we shared with her over the years. Perfume and Roses When we were young, birthday parties were held on Sunday rather than on the actual birthday day. With five kids all going in different directions, this ensured the whole family was around the table for the traditional Sunday roast beef dinner and the ensuing festivities.…

What a Difference a Year Makes?
On this Canadian Thanksgiving day, we once again gather to celebrate and of course give thanks. As always it’s a happy occasion with lots of conversation, laughter and delicious food. As a family, we are blessed. We Won’t Back Down One year ago, our Thanksgiving in the midst of Covid was an interesting ?? affair. Out of an abundance of caution, and because a vaccine was not yet available, we ate outside, sheltered from the pouring rain and huddled in the bone chilling cold. To put things in context, I refer you to our Thanksgiving post last year, titled “Thanksgiving in the Breezeway.” You have to read it to believe…

Off To Randy’s House We Go…Maybe?
The above picture is of our brother Randy. Despite an uncanny resemblance to Howdy Doody, we think he is just adorable. Have you ever heard of the saying from the 70's, " Keep on Trucking?" Well this is exactly what the Sisterhood of the Travelling Shoes is going to do. Since we have completed two virtual walks, one along the Cabot Trail and one around the Ring of Kerry, we decided to do one of entirely our own design. Read on faithful follower and see the exciting adventure that we have in store for our next virtual walk.

Hang in There
Our word of the month for September is PERSEVERANCE and all three sisters have vivid examples of their perseverance in the face of extreme challenges. Well, perhaps not extreme, but challenges nonetheless. What follows is a detailed and graphic account of each sister's very real struggle to overcome adversity.

Rosie, Meet Bartolio Sparkles
As a kid I loved watching the Jetsons cartoon. I loved the antics of the Jetson family and was fascinated by the flying cars, the jet packs and of course Rosie the family robot. While it was fun to watch, I never dreamed that we would have anything like the futuristic Jetsons technology in our household, but I was wrong. Enter Bartolio Sparkles. Who or what is Bartolio Sparkles you might ask? Well, it is the name our grandchildren gave to our new robot vacuum. How and why I became the owner of a robot vacuum and why I feel the need to write about it are questions you may…

Going to the Chapel of Love
Just a quick comment on the above picture. We are from left to right Big Sis’ whose chubby cheeks make her look like a 10 year old child bride, Middle Sis who begs the question “Was she adopted?” and Little Sis who looks adorable but inexplicably somewhat angry. Now for our story. In a few short months, (11 to be exact) Big Sis and her hubs will celebrate 50 years of wedded bliss. Yes, three kids, five grandchildren and lots of adventures later, they are still together. That is quite an accomplishment and it begs the obvious question…..where has the time gone? Cue the soft music, and rewind back in…
