We’re Not Getting Older We’re Getting Better?
Big, Middle and Little Sis are all getting up there in age and have recently had some interesting experiences in the health department, as is wont to happen when you are firmly ensconced in the senior citizen category (Well, maybe Little Sis isn't firmly ensconced yet, but she definitely has one foot in). Realizing that they are not unique in this, they decided to share their experiences in the hope of providing guidance and encouragement to those who might find themselves similarly afflicted.

Let’s Do This!
I have known for a while, that because my Grandmother was born in Northern Ireland, I am eligible to apply for Irish citizenship. I have also known that as exciting as that may be, the process appears to be quite rigorous and I have a long list of other adventures to pursue. But I recently decided that it's time to just do it! 2024 will be the year I will wholeheartedly devote myself to the application process. I am committed to this. And so with the full support of the Sisterhood, I begin.....

Step By Step
If you recall, for the month of February Big, Middle and Little Sis each decided that the answer to Wayne Gretzky's question "You want a challenge don't you?" was "yes" and so they each chose something that they want to accomplish over the month. And being the wise women that they are, they know accountability is key when you are trying to make a change so, it seemed that a good way to do this would be to post a progress report for all the world to see. With this in mind, read on to see how the Sisterhood is doing at the halfway point in their quest for glory,…

The End Is Near
No, I have not developed a life threatening illness, nor have I turned into a doomsday believer. The end that I am thinking about is an end to my working life. Yes, the time has finally come. After all these years of getting up at the crack of dawn, and working my fingers to the bone, I have started to think about retirement. Yes, you heard it right, I am starting to think about it. I am at the stage in my life where it's time to start thinking about what I want to do for the rest of my life, as I am officially the last one in the…

It’s A Long Way To Antigonish
If you are a reader of our blog, you’ll know that we have a goal to do a 5k race in every province in Canada. This year we are checking Nova Scotia off our list by visiting Antigonish and yes, it is a long way to go – 6225 km to be exact. And while I am excited about accomplishing this part of our goal, what is most exciting for me is a chance to attend the Antigonish Highland Games while we are there and take a trip down memory lane. You see, highland dancing and I go way back, and despite the fact that my knees hurt just watching…

The Sisterhood Leaps Into 2024
As we settle into 2024, the Sisterhood thought now might be a good time to answer the famous question posed by hockey icon Wayne Gretzky, "you want a challenge don't you?" So after much soul searching and deciding, as good Canadian hockey fans, they could not say no to Wayne Gretzky, the Sisterhood decided to embark on a 30 day challenge. Well, it's actually a 29 day challenge as we chose February of a leap year to do it, but I don't think Wayne will mind.😂

70 is the New “I Don’t Care”
If you are young, and by young I mean under 70 years, this post probably won't resonate with you. In fact, you will likely find it difficult to get past the title. If you've made it this far, however, I urge you to keep reading because this will inevitably apply to you. The sad truth is we all get older. The happy truth is that often we get wiser and hopefully end up in the "I don't care" stage of life. Allow me to elaborate.

Citizenship Through Ancestry
In today’s whirlwind world of social media, it is so easy to endlessly scroll through meaningless content and immerse oneself in ridiculous trivia. I am no exception. And so it was that I recently happened across an interesting article titled “Irish Citizenship Through Ancestry.” Well that caught my eye and I clicked. To my surprise it is apparently possible to claim Irish citizenship if one has a grandparent born in Ireland. Hmm, I have a grandparent born in Ireland. The mind boggles! And the mind is now on overdrive. I am compelled to investigate further. Initially, it seems to be a deceptively simple process. Of course there is documentation to…

It’s Not Easy Being Me
Biscuit here. Ever since I was made a fulltime member of the Sisterhood, way back when, my life has changed dramatically. No longer am I the smalltown dog living in a small world. I am now a big town dog living a bigtime world. Never in a million dog years did I ever think that I would be a social media star. I thought I would just spend my days getting belly rubs, eating treats, taking long naps and reading famous dog biographies in my spare time. Boy was I wrong! While my meteoric rise to the top of the social media scene has truly been a whirlwind adventure, it…

We’ll Be Home For Christmas
Once our children had families of their own, we established a rotation of sorts so that we could have our whole family together every other Christmas. This worked especially well when grandchildren were young and travelling the almost 1000 kilometres between our households was a big undertaking. We did this for several years and then COVID hit and extreme weather hit and airline cancellations hit and to make a long story short we have not been able to get together with our whole family at Christmas for a while. But not for lack of trying… *x#?&* COVID As everyone knows, on the first Christmas in the throes of dealing with…
