    On The Road Again

Biscuit here. It feels like forever since we went on a road trip and the time has finally come. I am so excited I can hardly stand it! We’re going to Oregon and I can’t wait to run on the beach, chase seagulls, and roll in stuff that smells good to me, but not everybody else. Time To Get Ready We were a lot more organized this year than we have been in the last several years, so the car was packed the night before our departure. The biggest concern I heard Little Sis and her hubby talking about was the possible long wait at the border because of the…

    Make No Bones About It

Mom was a few months short of 90 when she passed, and she enjoyed relatively good health well into her mid 80's. She was a very social person, happy to participate in many of the activities at her care facility. She walked every day (even though it was only a few blocks to get her Starbucks☺️) and took her medications as prescribed.

    Three Ring Circus

Haven’t we all at one time or another felt like our life was a three ring circus? Well, in our house we recently had a three ring circus of a different kind when raccoons decided to set up house in our attic. Yep, that’s right – literally raccoons in the attic, and figuratively too as we tried to figure out what to do. Spring Has Sprung One morning as I was sitting at my desk enjoying the sunshine, I heard a kind of a scratching on the roof and sounds that I thought might be baby birds. I quickly chalked it up to a bird nest on our roof. Kind…

    All’s Well that Ends Well

After our post race recovery regimen of a shower and big lunch, complete with celebratory libations, it was time for the other important part of our trip. And that was spending time with our brother Randy, who we had not seen for a few years. He graciously came and picked us up and drove us to his farm, about two hours outside Montreal. Once we got over the surprise of how much he now looks like Colonel Sanders (albeit a more svelte version), we were off to the farm. Little Sis got the front seat on the drive and she had a great time enjoying our brother's somewhat offbeat sense…

One Foot In Front Of The Other

After settling in at our hotel and a fun evening at the rooftop lounge, it was now time to get serious and focus on the event that brought us to Montreal - a Sisterhood 5k walk. The tiaras are unpacked, we found a good restaurant for carbo loading before the walk and spent some time brushing up on our high school French. All we need now is for race day to arrive. But first....

    Up, Up And Away

Well its official. We are finally on our way to Montreal for our first 5K walk in three years, and a visit with our brother on the side. The Sisterhood had been training for this, and we could not wait to get our kicks on and start the walk, but we had to get there first which was an adventure in itself. We travelled over four provinces, two time zones, and a language barrier. Let's go girls!

    Bonjour Montreal, Here We Come!

Finally….. the long wait is over and the Sisterhood is breaking out of the COVID imposed travel embargo to once again work towards their goal of participating in a 5k walk in every province in Canada. So far we have checked BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan off the list and next week we will be able to check off Quebec after we participate in the Run For Women in Montreal. Even though we are feeling a bit rusty since our last walk, which was in Saskatoon in 2019, we are happy to once again be back out on the “trail” with the added bonus of getting to spend time with our…

    Punching Above my Weight

The other day I had to go into work, and instead of taking the elevator I took the stairs. It was not long before I realized I was huffin’ and puffin’, and believe you me, there was no way I could blow someone’s house down. Clearly I was out of shape, and it slowly dawned on me that I had to do something about it. I was particularly concerned because the Sisterhood is committed to a 5K walk in Montreal in a few weeks. At this rate, both Big and Middle would surely put me to shame, and the humiliation would be excruciating. After a few days of thinking about…

    The Games People Play

Once upon a time, about 35 years ago, five young mothers each walked their daughter into the first day at Mountainview Preschool. It was a new exciting experience for both Moms and daughters. But little did they know the significance of that day and the ultimate bonds that would be established and nurtured over the coming years. Encouraged by their Moms, the daughters became friends. In the beginning they had play dates (dress up was a favorite), played soccer, went to Brownies and celebrated birthdays together. And the Moms gradually began to know, appreciate and support each other. They chatted at soccer games, before and after Preschool and even became…

    Spring has Sprung

Yup! Spring is finally here. Gone are the cold, rainy and dark days of winter. It really does feel like we are coming out of a dark cocoon into the light, where there is a renewed sense of happiness and optimism. Along with that comes the feeling of a new beginning, which of course means… time to start spring cleaning. Yay! I have to be honest, cleaning is not one of my favourite things no matter what time of year, but invoking the old “misery loves company” axiom, this year I convinced Biscuit to help. She’s not a happy camper and I have to do some sweet talking but she…
